In 2004, Börekçi Group made a strategic decision to invest in commercial retail real estate in metropolitan Chicago. Borekci Real Estate, LLC was formed to execute the tactics against this strategy that includes acquisition of developed retail shopping centers and its management as well as development of retail and mix use properties. Borekci Real Estate’s first acquisition was a shopping center in Arlington Heights, IL in late 2004. Borekci Real Estate purchased an office condominium in Northbrook, IL, to have office space available to support the projected expansion of its U.S. operations in management and development services.
